Imperfect Nature
This body of work is a response to what I see in the garden, and life in general. For me the cadence of the changing seasons, the passage of time, the movement of our lives through inevitable stages, and the act of making art are all connected. In the garden I observe the details of nature, considering the movement of a leaf or a seed through time.
Long before autumn, brown and dead leaves litter the ground, and insects have feasted on bright blooms. The beauty in a tangle of dead winter branches is breathtaking. In our culture image has become more important than truth. Nature speaks to us of the beauty of imperfection.
